Next Up | Fiction Writer Justin Taylor

Fiction writer Justin Taylor, author of the short story collection Everything Here Is the Best Thing Ever (2010) and the novel The Gospel of Anarchy (2011), and editor of The Apocalypse Reader (2007), makes his first appearance in the New Writing Series on Thursday, January 26, 2012, at 4:30pm in Lord Hall 100 (note venue) on the flagship campus of the University of Maine system in Orono. This event, the second of the spring 2012 season, is free & open to the public, though seating is limited. UMaine Assistant Professor and fiction writer Greg Howard will host the event.

Next up | Poets Joshua Edwards & Ish Klein

Poets Joshua Edwards and Ish Klein will make their first appearance in the New Writing Series on Thursday, January 19, 2012, at 4:30pm in the Soderberg Auditorium (Jenness Hall) on the flagship campus of the University of Maine system in Orono. This event, the first of the spring 2012 season, is free & open to the public, though seating is limited.

JOSHUA EDWARDS directs and co-edits (with Robyn Schiff, Nick Twemlow, and Lynn Xu) Canarium Books. He’s the translator of Mexican poet María Baranda’s Ficticia (Shearsman Books, 2010), and the author of Campeche (Noemi Press, 2011) and Imperial Nostalgias (Ugly Duckling Presse, forthcoming 2013). From October 2012 through September 2013 he’ll be a fellow in residence at the Akademie Schloss Solitude in Germany. He lives in Berkeley and teaches at Stanford.

ISH KLEIN is the author of the poetry books Moving Day (2011) and Union! (2009), both published by Canarium. She is a graduate of Columbia University and the Iowa Writers Workshop for Poetry. A compilation of her recent videos, entitled Success Window, has been released by Poor Claudia of Portland, Oregon. Her work has screened at festivals and museums around the world (see some videos here). She lives in Amherst with the writer Greg Purcell. Together they produce the poetry podcast called Noslander.
