Matvei Yankelevich on Contemporary Russian-American Poetry

Matvei Yankelevich (NWS F’06) explores contemporary writing by Russian-American poets in the online magazine Octopus. “In this and forthcoming installments of this investigation I will choose poets who—in print and in performance—make us wonder about issues of accent, of ‘Russianness,’ of bilingual experience, of representations and marketing of identity.” Read the first installment here (click on “essays” in left column), the second here (click on “The Russians Are Coming” in right-most column).
